Apple engineers squeezed all the best features of iPod into a case weighing just 3.6 ounces and smaller than any cell phone. iPod mini features an anodized aluminium case that resists stains and scratches. Like its (slightly) bigger brother, iPod mini gives you over 25 minutes of skip protection and lasts up to 8 hours on a single battery charge. So you won

Yeah yeah yeah, I've heard all the comments about how "expensive" this unit is. Not so! I compared it to the Rio Nitrus etc etc and there's just more bang for the buck with the MINI. I own the 20 gig (WHITE) iPod which I like a lot, but quite honestly, I love the form factor of the MINI. It feels light but not cheap and a great display screen. 4 gigs you say, that's all? That's about 80 CD's. I figured that was enough for my girlfriend so she can use it to work out and still have plenty of choices. In comparison to the larger capacity iPods, it all depends what you're after. My best recommendation is to acually head to an Apple Store or whatever and try it out. Don't go on the written reviews alone.
Pro : Great form factor, feels great, reliable

When i heard that the iPod Mini come out I was amazed, shocked and totally in love. I said to my self " i gota get me one of those!". But as soon as i got home that night and saw the pricing, I was disgusted. Being the owner of the "Old school" 5, 10 and 20 gigabite iPods and a proud owner of a new 40 gigabite iPod, i was just disgusted with the price for the iPod mini. At the time.
Reasons why i hate it so much:
1. It runs around 40 dollars less then the Modern 15 gigabite iPod (11 gigabites less)
2. The iPod mini holds about 100-300 less songs then the Old school 5 gigabite and 800 songs less then the modern 15 gigabite iPod which is now 40 dollars more then the mini.
3. They seem to be charging you for the color.
Pro : Its small
Con : Smaller hard drive for more money (compare to the old 4 gig)

the apple ipod mini is so much different than just and mp3 player. it should, in my opinion, have its own category. first of all because it plays any type of music file, not just WAV of MP3. secondly it come in many different colors. and the picture on the internet does not do justice to the metallic look and feel of these mini's. i have had many a CD and MP3 player and the iPod Mini out does them all. buy this product.
Pro : more features, more user friendly

This is the best mp3 player out. Although popel think it may be expensive it isnt since the quality of music apple offers is great! Its not only an audio player but it also has games,u can put news weather, notes , calenders and even contacts. It's is definitely worth its cost. I have had it since feburary 25 and Ive seen others, none of them even compare to the ipod mini. The scrolling is heat sensitive which is really cool. It never skips and it is really easy to create a playlist while on the go since apple makes it so easy to search for songs.
Get this IPOD MINI !!!!!!!!
Pro : Tiny, thousand songs, touch mini click wheel

Excellent except for the battery and new itunes version thing.
Pro : This mini can fit in small places and can still hold plenty of music. it has very ergonomic controls, so good they are makin iPod remixs with regular iPod size but with mini controls.
Con : Like all iPods you have to have the right version of iTunes to download songs onto the iPod and you have to pay big bucks for a new battery ($99) once the rechargeable one has worn out.

I have owned both the iPod mini, iPod 20gig and Rio Karma. I am a fan of macintosh products but this is far from their best attempt. Has great click wheel, and touch scroll features making it easy to scrool though the eay-to-use interface. I like the ear buds packaged and just as any good music player, hold/lock feature to prevent unwanted button pushing.
Other then that i dont have much positive. Many people bealive that this player supports all audio types and that isnt true. This product only supports mp3, wma, and related. Also for those who dont understand the depths of iTunes… iTunes has great interfacing. But iTunes compresses all your music into about 60% of its original state. I notice this GREATLY impacts sound quality. I am a stickler for excelent sound quality. I do not like how it is handeled on the iPods.
This is only a 4gig player. That is VERY weak for the price. at a $300 price tag i expect more then 4 gigs. That really limits your music. However, since iTunes comprese the file size and quality, you can fit about normal compressed files about 6 gigs.
As mentioned in the above is the price tag. $300 is a real lot.
MY final beef with the macintosh screw up is that this is an AUDIO player not a personal organizer. I have disected this product down to the point of, if you take out the stupid feautures of games, calender and anything else that is so pointless in an AUDIO player, you can almost make the firmware 1gig less making it a 5gig player. This is an audio player. You dont need those features.
All iPods are easily accesorized. You can buy anything you will ever need for your iPod almost anywhere. No other audio player has the easy of being so well accessorized.
OVER ALL RECOMENDATION:
Do not buy this. Stay away. Lower the price tag $150 it would be well worth it. Not as it is now however.
If you want an audio player with superior sound quality, crisp noise ratio and a customizable EQ with more space, go for the Rio Karma. Its only 30 dollars more and STOMPS on this product and spits it out.
Pro : Very sleek looking, good user interface, small enough to go anywhere
Con : everything else

This unit is solid. Over the past 2 months I've dropped it several times, on accident of course, and it still holds up with no nicks or scratches on its anodized aluminum surface.
In comparison to the larger iPod, people always say that for 50 dollars more you can get 5 times the space. Well, frankly, for most people, 1000 some songs is a lot of songs. All my favorite songs only take up about 120, and all my songs period are about 380 songs. People are always in awe when I tell them I have over 350 songs on my mini, and then they always ask, "How many can it hold?" and I respond with about 1000. Not one person has ever said, "Well that's not enough songs!".
When purchasing the iPod Mini you are purchasing it for its ergonomics and portability. It's a small unit, but isn't so small that it becomes unworkable (even in the hands of a 6'2" man), and it is heavy for its size but its weight is still negligable. When you apply pressure to the surface of the mini, you can really feel the substance of the unit, as opposed to other mp3 players that feel like they'll yield to just a little bit of pressure.
When I first got my mini, it just felt like the right size. Then later that week I saw one of Creative's mp3 players, and took note of its size. The mini is about 8 times smaller than the Creative player.
The backlight is bright, bright enough to illuminate a wall in full darkness, but not so bright as to become blinding. There are games, handy features for calenders, contacts, and notes, and it's incredibly easy to install and use iTunes.
Some people say that the sound quality of the iPod mini is sub-par. This just isn't true. The equalizer of the player is sub-par, but it gives wonderful neutral tones in highs and lows. It just becomes problematic if you jack the bass up too high and the like, (as is the trend with most music nowadays), but if you just run it with the EQ off it sounds wonderful.
People always ask me if it's worth it, and I answer with a confident:
Yes. Most definitely.
Pro : Portability, chic style, long battery life.
Con : Cost efficiency in comparison to larger iPod.

I first got my mini about a month ago,I havent put it down since. The mini has so many great features the most obvious is the size, 4 gig's in less than 3 1/2 ounces and a 3.6 inch height is simply amazing, you can fit it anywhere. Also the color's and free engraving are cool bonuses, probably the coolest bunuses is the bragging rights, owning one will definitely make you popular. Add all that with the ease of use, fast and simpable syncablity with itunes and excellent and lest me not understate this EXCELLENT sound quality through included speakers or stereo system/computer speakers and you have the best smallest and undoubably coolest mp3 player out there. So if you want the next big thing look no further than the iPod mini.
P.S. all that bull about the mini being overpriced go look at other competing companies like Creative or Rio they are the same price for same amount or less gigs and don't even compare in the easeablity/features from department
Thank you for reading my review
