Everyone is aware of the fact that most women love to shop. Movies and television often depict the shopping fanatics rushing through stores like Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Fashion magazines have long been offering thriftier suggestions to the high end clothing that appear on their glossy pages.
The majority of women don’t just enjoy shopping for themselves, as it is also a way for them to show their thoughtfulness for a loved one or friend. If you have a special man in your life, finding gifts for him can be fun and even a bit exciting. There doesn’t always have to be an occasion for picking up a small gift for him, as it can simply be a reminder to let him know that you’ve been thinking of him.
Don’t Forget the Extras
You have heard the popular saying that “behind every great man is a great woman”, but what is it that makes the woman so great? While men seem to be more inclined to reading the headlines, women prefer to check out the fine print. They remember that, when purchasing a gift for him, to include the batteries for a new gadget or buy golf balls with the new set of clubs. Because men can be so headline oriented, receiving a gift that is complete in every detail makes a very special impact.
Are you thinking about making him a personalized gift? If you are not sure how or where to begin, then make a quick list of his hobbies, likes and dislikes, and any secret indulgences that he might have. For avid golfers, a new set of clubs could definitely hit his sweet spot. Or you could book him a tee time at a fancy golf club, and include a cart rental. If your man has a thing for airplanes, a great gift could be flying lessons, or a few skydiving jumps.
A Few More Ideas
Do you feel like just running away and hiding out for a few days? Most popular couples’ resorts offer all-inclusive getaway packages, with airfare usually included. Jetting off to a romantic location for some relaxation and quality time would be a really terrific gift that not only would he enjoy, but that you could enjoy as well.
The most important thing to remember is that your gift comes from the heart. Whether you decide to surprise him with the latest electronic gadget on the market or a romantic dinner for two, he will know that you are thinking about him. It doesn’t have to be a big, expensive present to knock his socks off.

Do you have any special/crafty gift ideas for teachers and/or special people in your child’s life?
I really want to do something special for my child's teacher in addition to a gift card. There are also some special people for whom I need to give an end of the year gift. Any ideas?

Teachers love to get giftcards to WalMArt (to buy stuff for our rooms).
But I also like getting fun supplies, like sparkly pens or pencils with fluffy tops.
I also always like just getting stuff for my room like age appropriate posters, etc.
One time a student bought me 100 gluesticks. It was AWESOME!

Compliment them and give a token of your esteam even if it's just a card or flowers to say you care about them and thank you. They can appreciate that and generally want it but they don't expect it.

Here are two recipes of what my daughter and I made for her teachers. They were easy to make, yummy to cook with and popular to recieve. We got some nice jars at Ikea, but I'm sure most stores would carry attractive jars that you can use (about 1 cup sized).
Special Curry Rub
Cord coriander - 3 Tb
Ground cumin - 2 Tb
turmeric - 1 Tb
Ground ginger - 2 tsp
Chili powder - 1 tsp
Ground cinnamon - 1 tsp
Pepper - 1/2 tsp
Ground cloves - 1/4 tsp
Measure all 8 ingredients into small bowl. Stir well and then spood into jar.
Directions: Rub on feef, pork or poultry. let stand for at least 30 minutes before cooking. For the best flavour, rub on meat or poultry and chill for 4 hours before cooking.
Cajun Seasoning
paprika - 1/4 cup
Dried basil - 3 Tb
Minced onion flakes - 2 Tb
Garlic powder - 2 Tb
Fennel seed, crushed - 1 Tb
Parsley flakes - 1 Tb
Dried Thyme - 2 tsp
Cayenne pepper - 1-1/2 tsp
salt 1 Tb
pepper 1 tsp
measure all 10 ingredients into small bowl, stirl well. Spoon into jar with tight-fitting lid. Makes about 1 cup.
Directions:
Sprinkle over poultry, fish or shrimp. Let stand for at least 30 minutes before cooking. For best flavour, spinkle over poultry, fish or shrimp and chill for 4 hours before cooking.

Someone taught me how to get plain white candles and transfer pictures onto them with a heat gun. So my daughter draws pictures and I transfer them onto the candle. I've done it for her dance teachers, her karate teachers, her 1st grade teacher and last week during teacher appreciation week we made candles for her art, music, p.e. and host nation teachers. It's nice because of the personal touch. Contact me if you want and I'll send you the details of how to do it. It's not hard.

For our Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, the PTA made paper mache apples and stuffed them with candy, pencils, and flowers. The teachers loved them and they were very easy to make. You will need a balloon, newspaper, water, glue, red paint, Modge Podge, and green felt ( for the leaves).
To begin, mix equal part glue and warm water. Blow the balloon up, about medium small will do. Take strips of the newspaper, dip them into the water and glue solution, then lay it on the balloon. Do this until you cover the balloon, leaving an opening at the top (how big depends on how much you want to stuff). After allowing the first layer to dry, repeat the same steps for second layer. Then paint red. When paint drys, cover with Modge Podge for shininess. Use the green felt to glue on leaves and your done. Good luck with your gift giving.
