If I purchase an unlocked Blackberry or a used one with my carrier do I need Blackberry’s monthly service plan?
I went to the Tmobile store to buy a blackberry but I have to sign up for the monthly Blackberry service fee, I think it was $30/month, can’t remember how much. If I buy a Blackberry from a third party like used one or unlocked, would I still need to purchase the monthly Blackberry service fee in order to send texts and emails?

I have a blackberry. I can use my SIM card in any phone that is provided by the carrier. I don’t think you HAVE to have it. It just gives you more features.

I think this would depend on your cellular carrier. With my carrier, I wouldn’t need to get a Blackberry plan. If I were to buy my Blackberry from my carrier with a 1, 2 or 3 year contract I WOULD need the monthly Blackberry plan, but if I was bringing a Blackberry device onto my carrier, I WOULD NOT need to get a plan, I could pay for data as I use it. If you do plan on using email, internet, those sort of things a lot, getting a plan may be a good choice though.
